Chan Poker Review
Chan Poker is a fairly new poker site in the long standing Ongame poker network. Although new, as a part of this established network you will be assured of some great action, a 10 time world champion spanning over 20 years, Johnny Chan has decided to take a whole new direction and develop his own branded poker site. he has been around the poker world for decades and you can be rest assured of a first class approach to his new venture. ChanPoker is growing by the day and I predict it wont take long before it is the largest site in this strong network.
Unfortunately, at the moment ChanPoker does not accept players from the USA.
Bonus: 9
Chan Poker has taken a very aggressive stance to first deposit bonuses. They are currently offering 100% bonus up to $1000. To be eligible, simply click on one of our links and use the chan poker bonus code "secretbonus" to collect your gift.
To clear the ChanPoker bonus you need a certain amount of player points. These points are accumulated every time you participate in a real money game. You need to clear 7 player points for each $1 in bonus. So to collect the full $1000, you need to accumulate 7000 players points. The bonus is paid out in increments.
Promotions: 6
As Chan poker is fairly new, you can be assured of some special promotions. As the site grows in stature, so will the opportunities to collect some great deals, the $1000 chanpoker initial deposit bonus clearly states Johnny's intentions with the site, so remember to use the special poker bonus code "secretbonus"
Fish: 8
Being part of a network, chan players will be assured of decent table action. The site shares the same platform as the likes of Hollywood Poker and at the lower end of the scale, you will be assure of a good feed of fish. moving up to the mid stake tables, I would say that the competition is pretty steady. The players generally know how to play but I would consider the general overall style of play to be tight passive. If you can find a good balance, you can surely dominate some of the tables at this site. At the upper end of the food chain, I would say you will likely encounter a few sharks, but not as many as some other sites out there. on the tournament front, I would say that the standard is fairly good at the $5 - $10 level. The smaller buyin tournaments are erratic and you will surely encounter some lunatics. Less popular games such as Omaha have a very weak standard of play. If yo are seeking out fish, check out the $1-$2 ring games. It seems to be filled with fish trying to win a quick buck.
Tournaments: 8
As you can expect, chan poker has a lot of competition from other online poker sites. They have one key distinction, and that is Johnny Chan himself. As the site shares traffic with the Ongame network, the tournament is OK, but nothing special. As they do not accept US players, you can be assured that ChanPoker fully intend to be in for the long haul. If the US do eventually change their online gaming rules, expect a massive boom at Chanpoker. At the lower stakes, the games are plentiful but as you move up the stakes, the size of the fields decrease accordingly. You will still find some decent sized events but these are scheduled guaranteed events. Tournaments run 24 hours a day and you usually start about 5 min apart. Texas Holdem, like for most other sites is the game of choice, you will also find a variety of turbo, short-handed, qualifying satellites and regular games, both at the single and multi table events.

Ongame are known for their clean cut graphics and well designed lobbies and ChanPoker is not exception. In fact out of the entire network I would say it is possibly the best of them all. It is very simple to navigate due to the large tabs's and general layout. Selecting your game type, limit selection and table couldn't be easier and you have the table and tournament description on the right hand side of the lobby. This offers you information such as pot averages, players per flop and hands played per hour. For newbies to the site, there are also pop-up boxes to help navigate the toolbar
If you have played on any of the other sites on the network you will recognize the table style with a few neat additional extras. You can view how your hand is developing by checking below the community cards. This is optional and you can switch off this feature if it is not to your linking and feel confident in your own analysis of the hand.
You also have a variety of hot keys, to improve the speed of the game. Animations are basic enough to ensure your game play is not interrupted but detailed enough to ensure a professional looking site. You can also view the totals of running pot size and bets.
From your avatars, you have a pop out chat box, so you can easily determine who is saying what. You can switch off the chat options or mute those who are being obnoxious at the tables.
You have other standard options which include detailed hand histories and statistics. You can use player notes and assign them to players you want to watch out for. A little icon will be next to their avatar if you have made notes on them previously. if you want the full effect, you can also use full screen table view for a more intense game. you have the option to use a 4 colored deck, quite useful for those who like playing omaha.
One of the best features at ChanPoker is that they offer both downloadable and non downloadable software. The downloadable version can support more features such as player notes and statistics. Currently the downloadable version only works on windows, inclusive of Vista but the non downloadable browser version on windows, mac and linux.
Cashouts: 9
You can you the following methods for deposits and withdrawals, Neteller, Visa, Mastercard, Debit Cards, both Switch and Delta. Also if you prefer, you can use Firepay or Click2pay.
Customer Service: 8
You have 24/7 access to Chan Poker's customer service. The best method of contact is their online service, which is located in their help section. You can also contact them by e-mail but I wouldn't recommend this method. They seem to have a pile up of e-mails in their inbox. Just remember to use the Chan poker Bonus code "secretbonus" and you should have no worries in that department.
Game Selection: 9
The games include texas holdem, Omaha, Omaha8, 7 Card Stud including the hi/lo version. You can also play 5 Card Draw which can be quite entertaining. You have the choice to play at the ring game tables, short handed and regular tables, Heads Up, Single and Multi Table Tournaments.
Chan Poker is good for those who like the micro limits. You can play at the $0.15/$0.30 Limit tables, the stakes go all the way up to $500/$1000. The pot and no limit ring games start at $0.10/$0.10 and $0.05/$0.10 and move up in increments to the high roller limits of $50/$100. Omaha limits start at $0.25/$0.50 for the Limit and Pot Limit games, and $0.15/$0.25 for No Limit. The other versions of poker follow similar increments as the Omaha tables. Generally you can find action at the ring game tables for games up to the $5-$10 instantly.
